- Receive cash, credit/debit cards, checks, or other forms of payment from customers and accurately process transactions using cash registers, point-of-sale (POS) systems, or electronic payment devices.
- Count the cash in the register at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring it matches the sales transactions. Reconcile any discrepancies and report them to a supervisor or manager.
- Scan or manually enter the prices of items purchased by customers and ensure that the correct prices are reflected in the system. Address any pricing discrepancies or errors.
- Maintain records of transactions, voids, returns, and exchanges.
- Process returns and exchanges following company policies and procedures.
- Verify the condition of returned items and issue refunds or store credits as necessary.
- Inform customers about ongoing promotions, discounts, or loyalty programs to encourage additional sales and customer loyalty.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously, such as processing transactions, answering phone calls, addressing customer inquiries, assisting with bagging or packaging items, and opening and closing store (depend on shifts)
Monitor for any suspicious or dishonest activities, such as shoplifting or fraudulent returns.
- Follow security procedures to minimize loss and maintain a safe working environment.
- Stay updated on company policies, procedures, and product knowledge through training sessions or meetings. - - Share knowledge and mentor new cashiers, if applicable.
