Job Descriptions

• Assist with the preparation and execution of a maintenance program of the course. • Assist with the management of the day-to-day maintenance of the course. • Assist the Superintendent of Golf with the management of the golf course maintenance staff. • Communicate all Golf Course Grounds Crew related matters of importance to the Superintendent of Golf in a timely manner. • Prepare the golf course for play. • Maintain proper records of the application of fertilizers and plant protectants. • Operate and maintain the golf course irrigation system. • Operate and maintain golf course machinery. • Be familiar with, abide by and monitor staff adherence to Park District policies and procedures. Assist with supervising implementation of safety standards. Enforce and promote safety regulations and procedures. • Undertake special projects as required. • Prepare written reports as required. • Administer expenditures of budgetary funds as approved by the Board of Commissioners. • Be proficient with and adhere to Park District purchasing policies. • Attendance at the Board, staff, and other public meetings may be necessary. • Follows, administers, and implements District policies and guidelines. • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications

A degree in turf management/soil science or related field preferred.
Minimum of one (3) years’ golf course experience with increasing responsibilities in turf management including experience with various fertilizers, pesticides, drainage systems, irrigation systems, and supervising staff.
Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
CPR/AED certified or obtain within one (1) year of employment
A combination of related education and three years of experience that demonstrates knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties of the position may be considered.
Employed or worked on a golf course maintenance staff for multiple seasons.
Positive attitude is a must.
