UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific

The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote regional cooperation for inclusive economic and social development in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership, through its analytical, normative and technical cooperation, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region. The Medical Service, Human Resources Management Section, serves as an occupational health service and on-site clinic for United Nations staff and others at the UN complex in Bangkok. The Service comprises one Medical Officer, one Nurse and one support staff. This individual contractor reports to the Medical Officer.

Consultants are not considered in any respect as being staff members of the UN; they have the legal status of an independent contractor. They are not entitled to any benefit, payment, subsidy, compensation or entitlement, except as expressly provided in the agreement and will be personally responsible for any taxes which may be levied on their remuneration.
