HYDROCHINA CORPORATION, formerly known as the Administration of Water Resources and Hydropower Planning and Design (AWRHPD) acting as a government administrative agency responsible for engineering and construction of the water resources and hydropower projects nationwide, with a history of more than 50 years, was established in December 2002 with the approval of China’s State Council. HYDROCHINA, supervised under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of State Council, is the only giant enterprise that furnishes comprehensive and full range of technical services in the field of hydropower, water resources development and wind power development in China, including planning of river basins, reconnaissance, design, consultancy, construction supervision, appraisal, evaluation, safety appraisal, check and acceptance, construction, project management and EPC contracting for hydropower and new energy development, and development, investment, operation and management of hydropower and new energy projects as well. HYDROCHINA is staffed with 8 state-level Design/Reconnaissance Masters, 135 experts with the Special State Allowance from the State Council of China, 792 specialists of professor-level senior engineer, 2,631 senior engineers, 2,112 engineers, and other employees. Well equipped with specialized equipment, devices, and extensive information resources, HYDROCHINA boasts a strong technical force in multi-disciplines and rich experience in engineering practice. HYDROCHINA was successively ranked either the first or the second in "Top 60 Engineering & Contractor Firms in China" by Engineering News -Record of the USA and "Construction Times" of China respectively since 2003.
